ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Financial Empowerment Training Program (FETP) gives small business owners a better understanding of their finances and financial position and helps them apply this understanding to their businesses through workshops (Financials 101 and Preparing for Investment) and counseling.

ABOUT FINANCIALS 101
Particants will learn what their financial statements say about their businesses and the criteria that banks look for when lending.

• Understanding financial statements--learn vocabulary terms, different uses of different financial statements, and what the numbers say about the business. 

• Understanding bank lending criteria--learn what banks look for when they evaluate loan applications and the basic elements needed to obtain financing.

ABOUT PREPARING FOR INVESTMENT
Participants will learn about the various financing options available to them and what to include in a financing proposal.

• Understanding financing options--learn about debt and equity financing as well as the investor package (angel financing)

• Understanding financing proposal--learn what to include in the proposal in order to obtain financing

EXAM TO GRADUATE
We encourage all participants to take the graduation exam at the end to assess and reinforce what they have learned in the workshops. All who pass will be invited to a graduation ceremony, and selected graduates will have the opportunity to pitch their business concept to a group of angel investors at the Asian American Business Expo on August 13.
